Non-traumatizing percutaneous right heart catheter.

چکیده
A new catheter suitable for right heart catheterization with percutaneous technique is described. It is made out of the standard PE i6o catheter. The catheter tip does not irritate the myocardium because it has an end loop and the catheter cannot enter fine vessels. The catheter is also easily passed to the pulmonary artery without the aid of x-rays. It has proved useful in pulmonary artery catheterizations on 73 normal subjects and I42 patients. Extrasystoles are sometimes seen but there have been no disturbing complications.

Percutaneous transcatheter retrieval of intracardiac central venous catheter fragments in two infants using Amplatz Goose Neck snare.
Central venous catheter (CVC) fracture with embolization is a serious and rare complication, and few cases have been reported in children. Catheter fragments may cause cardiac perforation, arrythmias, pulmonary embolism, and sepsis. We report the successful retrieval of intracardiac CVC fragments by percutaneous transcatheter technique in two infants, aged 8 and 15 months. Double-lumen 7 French...
متن کامل[Percutaneous endovascular removal of intracardiac migrated port A catheter in a child with acute lymphoblastic leukemia].
A 2-year-old boy with acute lymphoblastic leukemia was presented with peripherally inserted central catheter dysfunction. Radiological examinations revealed a catheter remnant in the right atrium extending into pulmonary vein. The catheter remnant was successfully removed from the right atrium by percutaneous endovascular intervention without any complications.
متن کاملSuccessful removal of a ruptured silastic percutaneous central venous catheter in a tiny premature infant.
The spontaneous rupture of a Silastic catheter is a rare occurrence. We describe our experience of managing a tiny premature infant with embolization of a Silastic percutaneous central venous catheter (PCVC) and discuss the possible mechanisms of the embolization. A 28-week, 980 g, preterm male infant received a Silastic PCVC (Epicutaneo Cava Catheter, Vygon, Germany) for parenteral nutritional...
متن کاملPercutaneous Approach, Including Transseptal and Apical Puncture
In contrast with the direct brachial technique (see Chapter 5), the percutaneous approach to left and right heart catheterization achieves vascular access by needle puncture , and thus obviates surgical isolation of the vessel during either the insertion or the subsequent withdrawal of the cardiac catheter. Once the needle has been positioned within the vessel lumen, a flexible guidewire is adv...
متن کاملCreating Transmural, Linear Epicardial Ablation Lesions via a Non-surgical, Percutaneous, Subxyphoid, Electrogram-guided Approach
Surgical arrhythmia ablation techniques can achieve epicardial transmural lesions but require a combination of surgical access and endoscopic approaches. We sought to adapt a surgical ablation catheter to a percutaneous subxyphoid approach. The EpiSense nContact (Epi) is a surgical ablation catheter that contains a 3-cm ablation coil, an open irrigation system, and a suction mechanism to mainta...
